Tau Kappa Epsilon – Mu Lambda Chapter takes 2nd place in the Winter Carnival 2020 Men’s Month long statue division! This year’s theme was “Discover What Shines From Prehistoric Times” organized by the Michigan Technological University Blue Key National Honor Society. This years elected statue chair was Eric Eschenburg (K605), a third year Mechanical Engineering Major, from the metro Detroit area.
With the excellent leadership and project management the fraternity members pushed hard to create a prehistoric hunting village. This year was not comparable to most years as record high temperatures throughout the months of January and February made progress on site and detail difficult. This years letter stand reads “Frozen in the age of stone, man survives with spears of bone”, these exquisite hand drawn paintings were done by the detail team.
The scene is pictured as follows: The frozen ice caps from the mountains look down on the hunting village and their prized catch; A woolly mammoth stuck in the mud with sabertooth tigers in the distance waiting to pounce on the villagers. The river between empties into the glass sheened lake with an abundance of fish ready to catch. The hunting village includes arrows & spears, a woman warming next to the fire in the frigid climate, men spear fishing in the lake, and a fish basket filled with the villagers catch.
